The Power of Breathwork for Nervous System Regulation
Welcome to this deeply soothing breathwork practice designed to help you regulate your nervous system!
I think you’re going to love this simple yet profoundly effective technique. (It’s truly one of my favorite ways to decrease stress and anxiety and to create a state of peaceful relaxation in my body.)
Breathwork is one of the most powerful tools we have for nervous system regulation.
By consciously working with our breath in certain ways, we can send a signal to our brain and body that we are safe. This simple message allows our nervous system to move out of its stressed or reactive state and back into a state of functional, flexible balance.
I find it completely amazing how something as basic as breathing can have such a profound impact on our well-being! When we intentionally breathe in a certain way, we can truly change how we feel and move into a more balanced, peaceful and healing state of being.
When you focus on your breath, you give your body permission to release the stress that has built up and to unwind from the inside out.
In addition to working with the breath, this practice invites you to drop in and really feel your body.
Bringing our awareness to the body in this way will quiet your mind and tone your vagus nerve, which is a key player in regulating the nervous system.
The cumulative benefits of breathwork
Practicing breathwork in this soothing and regulating way isn’t just about feeling better in the moment, either. (Although that’s certainly a beautiful benefit!)
Regularly practicing this type of breathwork can have huge benefits to our overall health and well-being in the long run including: reducing anxiety and stress, improving our emotional regulation and resilience, boosting our immune system, and increasing our vitality and mental clarity.
This breathwork practice is basically THE definition of self-care that actually moves the needle and I’m so excited to share it with you today.
